I had 2 days here and I honestly wish I had more, there is so much to see within the city of Chiang Rai and the outskirts!

Things to do ⬇️

▫️White Temple - probably the most famous in Thailand
▫️Blue Temple - Incredible colours/architecture
▫️Lalitta Cafe - A mystical fairy land
▫️The Goddess of Mercy
▫️Baan Dam Museum - An interesting experience

How to get around Chiang Rai?

🛵 Rent a scooter, Grab Taxis, Local Bus, Cycle or Walk

🌄 Ticked 3 bucket list hikes off my list
✈️ Saw 2 Wonders of the world
👫 Developed some new connections
💭Started travelling full time, always a dream of mine

With a couple months left, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings and what 2024 brings to the table!

One of the coolest experiences I have done, and ticking off a bucket list item ✅

@chailaiorchid is on of the ethical places in Chiang Mai where you can have epic experiences with elephants

I rented a room and got the ‘elephant breakfast’ experience where I had elephants come to my room and I fed them breakfast - it was honestly epic 🤩

Highly recommend coming here! All the money spent here goes back towards the community and to charity, all of the elephants are also rescued

Last couple days of the Everest circuit bringing in the views and memories 🤩

Made it to EBC! (Everest Base Camp, pictures 2,3,4). I must say, very underwhelming experience to get there 😅

Massive achievement for myself and those who get there though!

But the area itself doesn’t offer the best views in the region, it’s a fight to get a photo at a graffitied stone that says “everest base camp” and the whole experience felt very commercial.

Still happy I did it and was able to tick this off with my best friend @alexgallo

🥾TREKKING - $5825 AUD
Annapurna base camp and Everest Circuit

🧘‍♀️ YOGA RETREAT - $893 AUD
(Forgot to mention this one, but is in total) - 1 week retreat

✈️TRANSPORT - $15 AUD
Most of my transport was included in my tours

🏠 ACCOMMODATION - $300 AUD
Most was included in my tour except for a few nights, this is expensive as I stayed at the Raddison (where my tour started)

🥗 FOOD/SHOPPING - $500
Bunched these today, brought a few gifts but mainly spent on food/snacks for the treks

📄 VISA - $200 AUD
For a 60 day Visa

🏥 TRAVEL INSURANCE- $1563
Worth every penny as I did in fact need to be evacuated by helicopter

💵 TIPS - $350 AUD
This is expected in Nepal, especially on treks

TOTAL - $9606.31 AUD

*I will make one of these for each country I visit over the year *

Crossing the Cho La Pass has to be one of the hard

Crossing the Cho La Pass has to be one of the hardest things I have done to date

This was a BIG mental and physical struggle. I have climbed higher and hardest mountains before, but this took it out of me.

Maybe it was the fact I wasn’t on diamox, Maybe it was the lack of oxygen,
Maybe it was the fact I had been trekking for 21 days already

Nether the less this was a massive achievement for myself!

Gokyo lakes - one of most scenic places in the Everest Region 🤩

We headed into this area on day 8 of our 17 days trek - it is worth the hype.

We were blessed with beautiful (but cold weather), and clear sky’s when hiking Gokyo Ri 5483m

Gokyo Ri is the best view point in the region with incredible 360 views. It’s a hard, steep hike up there but well worth it!

If you come to the Everest region of Nepal - make sure you don’t miss Gokyo!
